Better late than never, right? :)
The first thing I need to do is thank the local organizing committee for a great event! Hosting an event for over 300 players across every possible female-protected division is no small feat. These courses were incredibly well-groomed, the signage was great, and on-site staff was wonderful. And can we talk about the amazing player's pack?!? Merrell shoes?!? Get out!

The event truly felt like a celebration of women in disc golf, starting from the player's meeting where cards were set up around the room commemorating the history of women in disc golf, and ending with what I thought was a nice touch in one of the female assistant TDs awarding Eveliina the trophy. So often in my run-of-the-mill local tournaments it feels like the women are an afterthought, that it felt like a privilege to be the focus. I'd also be amiss if I didn't acknowledge the awesome cardmates I had the whole tournament. It was so fun to meet like-minded women from around the country.
My own performance was pretty good, epecially considering I hadn't played a sanctioned tournament in over a year. Saturday was played with absolutely brutal wind conditions--we're talking sustained 30 mph winds--but I know I could have played better. Sunday proved that as I shot a whopping 14 strokes better, in "only" 20 mph winds, for my highest ever round rating. My husband, Brian, was an amazing caddy all week and kept me consistently focused on the task at hand and helped put bad holes behind me.
Since it was only a 5.5 hour drive from home, I felt fortunate to make the trip to Wisconsin and play in this tournament. It was an awesome event and I'd definitely play again when it's back in the midwest....or I just might have to plan a trip around a different destination!
Until next time...keep on throwing!
